"cool..." he gave a smile to the asnwer she had presented him with. thinking baout his answer now he couldnt just say one thing, it was hard to answer his own question but didnt want to let her down. giving a simple answer he smiled and said "i wish...i wish i could be normal" he nodded looking at her, in her mind it probably made no sense at all, but to him it made all the sense in the world.

And Rachel thought her answer made no sense. Well she no longer had to worry about that. Luke's answer had her officially confused. To her, being normal was just another title. No one was 'normal,' or at least not everyone. Sure you could be normal in your own way, but she was sure that to him there was more to it than that.
"Alright...You don't have to explain, but im dying to understand your reasoning on that..." Was all she had to say before they moved on.

Luke looked down to the floor. he knew she was going to ask somwthing along those lines, but he wished she hadnt. he didnt want to lie or deny her of anything, but it was hard to admit that he meant he wished he didnt have cancer, that he could be normal like everyone other person.
taking a deep breath in he looked up at her, giving a little smile then said "i need you to promise me something first though...i need you to promise me you wont tell anyone about this alright? not even Haley." he sighed knowing that if Haley found out that Luke had cancer she would try everything even though she could do nothing.
putting his hand over his mouth for a moment as he took a second to gather everything in his mind he lifted his eyes to hers. " Rachel...i have..Leukaemia." dropping his head "and...umm" as he paused to clear his throat a bit because it was a touchy subject for him. "when i said that i wanted to be normal...i wanted to get rid of it...to stop fighting it. i wanted to be able to play sports for more then just a few minutes or do more things that i cant do because of it..." lickinghis lips again he kept his eyes on hers. "thats what i meant...when i wanted to normal..."

Opening her mouth to say something, Rachel couldn't even find the words to say. It was hard enough pulling up the courage to even look at the guy, but trying to find the words to say when someone told you they had cancer was a completely different scenario. Especially when you were someone who would kill to make things better in any possible way. Rachel happened to be one of these people.
Being sympathetic made you seem clingly to help rather than feelings strong for the person. Rachel may have been the type of girl to do anything to make someone happy but it definatly wasnt in her nature to make someone feel sorry for themselves by adding to the fact.
"...Luke...Having leukaemia doesnt make you different. Sure its not technically a good thing, but in a way it makes you unique. Just think of all the people out there who try to hard to make themselves stronger...For you it just happens to come easier than others..." The senior said this in a sincere tone, hoping to god that she had made it come out right rather than as some cruel compliment.

looking up at her as he heard the tone of her voice. Luke gave a simple yet warm smile. she had worded it perfectly, in a matter of a few minutes. it had taken Luke whle family to do that much longer then a few minutes more like years.
"thanks Rach..your right, but sometimes it relaly feels that way...i forget that im not like everyone else and that i am ill, but hearing someone say what you just said gives me strength to feel normal and to do the impossible" he gave another smile to her "Thank you"

Rachel smirked, "I do what I can." From what she had heard, Haley and Luke were really close. Best friends you could say, so why he haden't told Haley first rather than herself, was slightly beyond her.
The bartender that had come around earlier to collect her bottle came back in just a matter of minutes to ask her if she wanted anything more. With a shake of her head, he walked away to other paying customers. Once he had left, Rachel glanced to the stage forgetting all about their game of twenty questions, "When do you have to go back up there?" She questioned, at the sight of people standing and waiting for someone else to go up and sing.

"well ya did a fine good job" he gave a thumbs up which was then followed by a laugh. even though it was a small gesture of kindness from Rachel, Luke really liked it. it helped him knowing that he infact was not different, but rather unique in a sense.
"just please dont tell Haley...ok? i dont want her worrying about me" he gave a little nod in Rachel's direction before running his hands through his hair. as his eyes fell upon the stage he coughed and looked over at Rachel, "i still have another hour or so...Steve's suppose to be up there right now..."

It wasn't as easy as Rachel had thought to hide a smile when she saw or talked to Luke. And as she got to know him better and better, that smile just seemed to brighten. So he wasn't as bad as she had thought he was. At first glance anyone could have mistaken the guy for someone he wasnt.
Rachel placed her hands on her thighs and rolled her head back when Luke asked her not to tell, "I swear on the bible that I will never tell Haley or any other soul of your secret...My lips are sealed Luke." She gave a reassuring smile then moved onto other topics, "Some break..." She said at the fact that he had over an hour or so left before he went back on stage, "I was thinking...When your done, you wanna hang out after? I mean if you want to and all." I guess you could count this as one of her questions for the game, after all it took her some courage to even ask.

Luke was feeling really good right now, Rachel and him were actually getting along and they were having somewhat of a good time right? thats always good. he knew the next time they would do this it would probably totally different..akward maybe even a little silent at times but right now it was fine.
"Thanks Rach..." he nodded to her with a little smile. it wasnt that often you would see a smile on Luke's face, he was more of a laugher and a smirker then anything else. "ya i know...maybe i should go up now, sing a few songs an-" she had taken the words right out of his mouth again, man she was good at that. "ya...we can hangout afterwards, unless you wanna come back on stage again?" he laughed a little

So i'll take door number one...Meet you back here when your done?" She asked, getting comfortable on her seat for the next performance. (short but i dunno what else to say )

Luke jumped off the stool and stood infront of her "well its either i get you piss drunk or...or i throw you over my shoulder and drag you up on stage?" he smirked looking into her eyes. "come on...live a little Rach, you know you had fun up there!" as he placed his hands on her knees and kept his eyes on her beautiful hazel ones. she looked so beautiful tonight it was hard not to say it.

Getting up on stage had always been a fear of Rachel's which is why she haden't taken dance up out of school, because more than once would she be caught in front of the eyes of a crowd. Now was no difference, but it had also been one of her goals to put herself in a predicament she rarely found herself. Going up a second time would make some difference, and it was always said that the third time was a charm.
Tilting her head to one side, and looking from one side of the club to the other until her hazel eyes landed on those of Luke, how could she resist? Luke was looking her right in the eye and even if she wanted to say no, she couldnt, "What do I get out of it?" She asked, still trying to find a good enough reason to get up there again in front of all these people.

"if you get up on that stage again....and stay up there for a minimum of three songs" Luke said puttingthree fingers up in the air as he kept his pericing blue eyes on her "if you do that...i will do anything you want alright? i swear to god!" putting the hand he just used to symbolize three with over his heart "scouts honour" he joked a little standing straight and tall.

Watching her fellow senior, Rachel shook her head slowely a smile forming over her lips as if to say, 'why oh why did i even ask.' As Luke stuck three fingers up and put his hand to his heart to finish his proposal, Rachel took her own hand and pushed his hand down back at his side and rolled her eyes, "Alright alright...I know how to count. And you have a deal." She gave a sigh and then smiled slightly.
