It was 3pm on a Tuesday, Haley's worst time she had gym practice..something Haley had never been good at. Her grades were impeccable but gym was something she just couldnt do. She walked through the girls locker room and dropped her bag by her locker, she quickly changed into the schools uniform of blue shorts and a white tshirt with crystal falls emblazoned across it. She locked away her stuff and headed towards the door to the gym, swinging open the doors she felt her heart drop as her eyes met those of the familiar blonde who normally she would have been happy to see but right now she couldnt imagine what she would say to her. Since Craig had told her that he had feelings for Rachel Haley wasnt sure how to act around her friend they had always been so close but this took their friendship somewhere neither were prepared for.

Most of Rachel's classes either had to do with reading, writing or arithmetic...Either that or dance. Gym just wasn't her thing. But since one of the classes she had signed for had been filled, she was forced to take the class. Surprisingly there were few of her friends in the same class, but as she entered the gym carrying her change of gym clothes and bag of books, her spirits weren't lifted much at the sight of Haley Lovell. It was hard enough trying to talk to her through email, and after her 'previous engagment' with Craig, Rae wasn't sure how Haley would react if she knew. After all, the two had just broken up earlier that same day.
Putting on her best smile, Rachel walked towards the locker rooms, while passing her friend, "Hey Hales..." She said in her most enthusiastic of tones.
Passing by her then heading into the locker room, Rachel came out minutes later after having changed into her black Crystal Falls shorts and team t-shirt, and locker her things up. Exiting out of the room, she walked over to the group. Haley on one side and Rachel on the other. Acting perfectly fine was one thing, but sooner or later one of them was bound to notice how tense it was between the two.

Haley looked at Rachel then looked away, she couldnt stand there and pretend that everything was ok. Coach hadn't arrived yet so Haley walked over to the bleachers and sat down her head in her hands, she could hear some of the other girls whispering about her and the break up with Craig it sickened her she just wanted to scream but instead she sat in silence thoughts running through her mind. She just longed for everything to go back to how it used to be.

This was gym class right? For a moment, Rachel almost had to question whether she was in the right class. She had known this class to be loud and active. But since the coach haden't arrived just yet, an awkward and tense silence had come across the large room.
Noticing the smirks, snickers and glances coming from a group of other girls in the middle of the gym, directed in Haley's direction as she took a seat by herself on the bleachers, Rae understood what was going on. It didn't matter what Craig had told her at dinner the other night. At least not until she talked to Haley about it.
Narrowing her eyes at the group of girls whispering to eachother, Rachel walked up to them, "If your going to snicker at something like a bunch of hyhenas...Go do it somewhere else!" She snapped at them as she pushed through them and walked towards the bleachers where Haley sat.
Taking a seat next to her, Rachel watched as everyones eyes turned away from the two and back to their own business, "Haley...I know nothing I say is going to make things better, but could we at least try to talk?" She asked in a quiet voice.

Haley looked up and into Rachel's eyes, "what do you expect me to say, my ex boyfriend is in love with you and i'm no longer wanted....think that about sums it up" she looked back down at the floor as she listened to the silence fill the room she had no idea what to say to Rachel it wasnt her fault that Craig wanted her not Haley but it still hurt to think of them together and part of her still questioned whether anything had been going on while Haley and Craig were together she hated herself for thinking like that but she couldnt shake that nagging feeling from her inside.

There was absolutly nothing that could change what Craig had said, and it was neither of their fault that Craig's feelings had changed, it just kinda...Happened. There was absolutly nothing that Rachel could say to make this better either, but the least she could do was try.
Opening her mouth to say something, Rachel longed to find the right words to say to her friend, "Haley...I...I'm sorry. I don't know what you want me to do about it. Feelings change, and im sorry that Craig's had to...But I dont want you thinking that I wanted this either." What was she supposed to say to her? No matter what she said, Haley was bound to turn it around anyways.

"Oh right?!? So i'm sure you ran a mile and told him to get stuffed didnt you!" she snapped back, she didnt mean to get angry at Rachel but she just had this anger building inside of her and Rachel was there to absorb it. "Bet i've been a complete idiot haven't I while i've been sat at home thinking about Craig you and him have been at it behind my back!" she added as she glared at Rachel

Now things were just getting out of hand and Rachel had no choice but to defend herself. "Of course not!" The senior exclaimed as all eyes were on the two girls, "What the hell are you thinking Haley!? Craig and I wouldnt do that to you...I wouldn't do that to you! I didn't even know about his feelings until last night! It was only supposed to be a friendly dinner...Nothing more..."

"Yeah course it was!" she replied sarcasticly her voice for off anger but hiding her hurt and guilt deep inside. She got up from the bleachers and walked to the middle of the gym, she span back round and stared at Rachel "answer me this have you ever had feelings for Craig since you broke up? More importanly...while we were together?" she shouted back to her she didnt care who could here her right now her mind was elsewhere.

"It was!" Rachel snapped, anger and guilt slowely building up inside of her, "Haley! I...Wouldn't..Do...That...To...You!" This was a sincere statement. Sure she had had feelings for Craig since they broke up, but she wouldn't admit them to Craig unless he felt the same or until he was single again. "What do expect Haley? I dated him too you know...And just like you, Im always going to feel something, but if you think I would go behind your back like that and admit it to him or take him away from you, than you need to rethink some things because you know me. I wouldn't do that to you!"

"Yeah well I thought I knew Craig too...." she said quietly this time as she felt tears building in her eyes. She knew what she was saying was crazy and she hated herself for thinking like that, she turned to face Rachel as a few tears fell from her dark brown eyes. "Im sorry I shouldnt have said that!" she replied with sorrow and regret.

Letting out a heavy sigh after having said this, Rachel was regretting many things. It was a dinner. Nothing more, nothing less. Rachel haden't even done anything with Craig. Just talked, eaten and had fun. Even if thats how Craig felt, Rachel wouldn't do anything unless Haley was ok with it. Sure she'd never be ok with it, but if she could move on, so could Craig.
As Haley turned to face her, Rachel recognized the look on her face. Tilting her head to one side and letting out one more sigh and apology Rachel said, "Haley...I promise I wouldn't do that to you. I...Iswear on Ben & Jerry's that I wouldn't do that to you. I'm sorry. I really am."

Haley couldnt help but let out a little laugh and a small smile crept across her lips when Rachel swore on Ben and Jerry's. "This is just a lot harder for me than I ever thought it would be but its over and I guess I have to accept that....maybe i'll get out of town for a while..." she sighed as she tried to get round the thoughts buzzing in her head.

The other students in the class must have thought the two were having one major mood swing or something, because in less than ten minutes, the two had chewed eachother out and made up like nothing had happened.
Rachel smiled, glad to see that she was at least still able to make her friend laugh, "Come here Hales.." Rachel said, walking up to her friend and giving her a hug, "I told you...It would take alot more than some guy to stop me from considering you one of my best friends! Even if...You do kinda wanna put my head on a silver platter." She gave an uneasy grin to herself.

Haley pulled away from the hug, "Rach I dont want that I just dont know how im going to deal with seeing you and Craig together.." Haley mentally slapped herself, she was being an idiot and she was being competely hypocritical. As much as she tried denying it to herself she had feelings for Jeremy, true she wasnt sure what they were but she couldnt ignore they were there and the way she was acting was out of order, at leats Craig had been upfront and honest.
