Crap. That was the first thought that was in her head as she came back home from Haley's house after talking to the angered best friend that she thought she knew. There was no way that she would be able to be with Craig now that all this was happening. All her hopes had shattered, and the world seemed to have been turned upside down, she got along with both Rachel and Haley, so her plan was to not get into this. Coward. Was the other thought that was in her head.
She was just eating some Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream alone as she heard a knock on the door, and she slowly got up to answer it. All she knew was that they had caught her in a time that she was thinking about all that was going on a lot, and what she could do to not get in the middle. Maybe, things would get better, but it seemed that things would have to get worse before they got better.

Luke was up for an exciting day, and who better to spend it with than Essie. as he knocked on her door he waited for it to open.

She opened the door to see Luke, and she smiled a little bit, and said. "Come in." That was all she managed out as she sat down, waiting on Luke to sit on a chair nearby. She grabbed her ice cream again, eating so much that it gave her brain freeze. It didn't matter all that much that she got brain freeze or any of that to her at least.
"How are you Luke?" Was the first thought she processed as she started to get over the brain freeze a little bit, smiling since there was actually a face that she was glad to see. With the stuff going on with her friend Haley, things were getting hard for her, and this was the prefect time to be better friends with Luke.

"thanks...thought you would-" he paused watching her eat ice cream, with having so many girls as friends..eating ice cream was a clue that something wasnt right. "im doing alright...how are you doing...and dont lie cause i can see the ice cream!" he pointed to her with a laugh as he sat down beside her

Nodding a little bit she let out a sigh, knowing that she couldn't hide the truth from Luke, but she had to from her other friends, which was part of the problem anyways. "I'm stuck Luke. Haley is all shook up, and I can't even try to go out with Craig without getting shot it seems." Again, she ate a lot of her ice cream very quickly, giving herself, yet again, another brain freeze.
"So that is why." That was all she felt like explaining at the moment, she knew that he might be a little bit surprised that Haley had told her anything since they hadn't been talking too much, but now she knew a lot about what was going on. All she felt was she was doing the right thing, and yet that she was a coward at the same time.

looking into her eyes Luke nodded to her "well...what do you mean you'll get shot?" he asked knowing it was just a play on words. but he was still curious as to what was meant by it

She frowned slightly as he asked the question, but she still answered the meaning behind it anyways. "I mean that Haley will probably yell at me or something, if I tried to date Craig." To Craig, she was one of the bravest people he knew, to her, she was one of those cowards that sat on the side lines and watched everything happen.
"I am beating myself up for this." That was the way things were in the world of Essie, and maybe she should take that chance, but that would mean giving up her friendship with Haley at the moment at least. "I have no idea what I should do, because either way it seems I lose." Shrugging a little bit, she didn't know what Craig's answer would be if she asked him for one date in the first place.

"im sure its not that bad...Haley's upset about it but she cant stop you from going out with him. she wouldnt be a friend ifshe did. i know Haley and she's more a friend than a backstabber or anything along those lines." he nodded to her "just relax and take a breather it will work out"

"I just don't even know if he would say yes to just one date even, no strings attached or anything." Shrugging slightly, she wondered if he would understand all of this, this was something that was new to her. New things and her just didn't mix all that well, but if someone got her to fight for it, maybe she would try.
"Yeah, I am just worried about her." Looking at Luke for a couple of seconds, before eating some more ice cream again. It wasn't like she couldn't find more in the freezer since her parents had gotten a ton of ice cream for one reason or another.

She laughed a little bit, and started to put the ice cream back away where it belonged, in the kitchen freezer. "Yeah, but you never know with him..." Smirking a little bit, she was sort of glad that Craig was her best friend and Luke was a good friend. It seemed that she had the greatest friends in the world when it came to encouraging her,and she liked that a lot.
"Yeah, she does stress out a lot, but I am here for her if she needs me, and I hope that she knows that." Now, smiling at Luke, she wondered what they should do now that they had gotten the more pressing matters handled. "Now, what should we do for fun?"

"Well, we could watch a movie, hang out, maybe go to The Rivercourt and do some one on one." Smiling a little bit, she was glad that she could move on and go to something that was better than things had been before Luke had come around. "Don't underestimate me when it comes to basketball, I am pretty good from playing with Craig for four years."
Yup, four years they had known each other, and now they were really close, closer than she ever thought they would be, and Luke was getting closer too, maybe soon, he would be counted as another best friend, a person that was like a hero to her.

"Yeah, a movie sounds good to me. You know of anything good that there is to see?" She decided to ask since if the plan was to go to the movies, they needed to figure out which one they were going to see first. After she asked she grabbed her phone so she could tell her parents where she was going to be since they weren't home at the moment. It took about ten or fifteen minutes since they asked a ton of questions, but in the end they approved of both her might be date with Craig and watching a movie with her friend Luke. "Or are we sticking around here?"
