Craig just watched her every move, still trying to figure her out. He was glad his mother was yet to come over, she'd go crazy at him.. he hadn't even told her abou the whloe Haley situation as to yet. Craig regretted lots of things in his past, but one of them was the way Rachel and him had split up without a fight. But now, maybe if he had a chance...things would be different.
Craig didn't say anything when she repeated what he had said, it was ordianry for her to repeat things when she was shocked... it just was Racherl Stone. "I honestly don't know what i want you to say, truthfully." He replied back, placing his hands on the table infront of him. Sure he would have liked ehr to say, "Oh Craig, I feel exactly the same way lets get together right away!" But that was a fairytale and fairytales never had happy endings...

So maybe Rachel had gotten her hopes up a little to high for the night. Because what she thought was going to be the perfect dinner with two friends having a good time, was now turning into a complete disaster as she tried to find the words to say. And it didnt help much that she knew this had to be part of the reason he had broken up with Haley.
As Rae's eyes scanned the cafe, through the dim lighting, she couldn't help but let out a tiny laugh, "Wow..This is no where near what I expected to happen tonight..." She said. Now didnt seem the time to laugh, but as long as there was a moment that wasnt as tense as the rest, perhaps the night wouldnt be as bad, "Craig...I've always liked you and i've always wanted another chance with us...But I just need to know the real reason you broke up with Haley..."

He ran a hand through his hair nervously, not sure how the events would unfold. Or whetehr the night would just get cut short instead. "Rachel... I." he sighed. "I didn't agree to ths planning to tell you all fo this. But today, i just figured it would be the right time after Haley and all."
Sighing, he wondered whther or not to tell her the truth. But Craig always found it difficult to lie to her, her eyes were so soft that even if he tried he ended up telling the truth. "I broke up with haley bcause it wasn't the same anymore. We grew apart, more distant and well if elt more like friends than anything. But I can't denie that I had feelings for you when I was with Haley... i can't say that my feelings for you had nothing to do with our breakup."

How could Rachel be so speechless like this. They'd talked about worse things before and each and everytime she had gathered the courage to talk to him. But why now? Why was he telling her this now, right after he had broken up with Haley. This was her chance to rekindle 'that little something,' but how could she do it when her friendship with Haley was now on the line?
Nodding in understanding, Rachel pursed her lips for a minute, then opened them in order to say something to Craig, "No...I understand Craig. I do..." She gave a gentle smile trying to show that she wasn't the least bit mad or disappointed. After all, he had a right to do this for himself if it was what he wanted. She couldn't stop him, "And...I'm glad you told me now rather than later..." That was the least she could admit. Her date with Luke had just been awkward what with not being able to trust herself or Luke, but now Craig had made things easier for her.

He knew it would be hard, he knew that all along. proberly more difficult fro rachel than himself for it was a potential friendship breaker for her. Craig didn't want that to happen, so if he had to, he would back off. Craig would have wanted a girl to do that for him, if the roles were reversed.
Craig took the smile as a good sign atleast, she wasn't mad or anything which relieved him. That was the least thing he expected off her but the thing he was most worried about. Craig didn't really understand the comment about soonner rather than later, although he didn't question it. Instead he just let a single two letter word leave his lips. "Ok..."

In the long run, if Craig haden't told her and Haley knew, things between the two girls would be even harder. If Haley knew of Craig's feelings, she might have been thinking all along that Rachel was hiding something. Craig had cleared that up for her, so now, if Haley at least confronted her, Rachel would have some defense.
"Craig...For now, I just want to have a good time. Thats all I ask. This means more to me than you think so...Can we at least try to have some fun?" Rachel's features were soft and the dimples in her cheeks reappeared as she gave him another smile. It was alot to ask, but she hoped they could still have a night without breakdown or angry fights and what not.

His face broke into a broad grin. "Sure, and dinners on me because I get it 100 % Discount, you can have anything on the menu... for tonight that is!" He winked at her, already knowing what he was going to have. The Cafe could be classified as a reastaurant if it wished. Except It didn't serve starters andthe deserts were limited.

A rush of relief came over Rae as she saw a grin spread over Craig's features. She was greatful for one thing. That even if Craig wasn't on high hopes, at least he still knew how to put it aside and have a good time. That was the one thing she couldn't be more thankful for.
With a relieved sounding laugh, Rachel nodded, "Sounds good to me!" She exclaimed finally, setting down the menu on the table, "Your finest plate chicken fingers and fries please." All of Rachel's friends had a thing for the cafe's fingers and fries. They were like...The cafe's most delicious finger food, and although Craig had offered her anything on the menu, Rachel took the usual.

"Ah, so it seems there will be two lots of that on our table today!" Craig ahd also, gone for the chicken fingers and chips, a personal favourite of the 'crew's'. Well, Jeremy was more of a burger guy, but hey? "To drink, miss?" He asked, in a waiterly tone that he used with the customers. Craig was opting for a Pepsi, just an average Pepsi.
After, he stood up and walked towards the counter. Craig preffered to place his order their instead of having one of the waiters or waitresses. It just made him feel weird. After that was all taken care off, he returend with the two drinks and place Rae's infront of her and took a sip of his. "Our food will be ready in about ten minutes or so."

"I'll take a 7-Up," Rachel replied as Craig got up to put in their orders. She couldn't help but laugh at the fact that Craig never put in his order to one of the waitresses or waiters when it was his night off, but she couldn't blame him. She would have felt just as weird doing that if she worked at the cafe.
As he arrived back at their table, Rachel grinned, taking her glass and placing it in front of her. She was parched. What from talking about all this Haley stuff in the car and now here, a drink was just what she needed, "Sounds good to me," she answered, placing her hands in front of her on the table, as she fiddled with paper that had been covering the straw in her cup, "So, you wanna hear something funny Craig?" she asked, avoiding eye contact with her friend.

Craig took another sip before looking up at his friend as she spoke her sentence. twitching one of his eyebrow's up slightly he didn't know if he wanted to here this so called 'funny' story. Girls were strange, always would be.
" If I said no, you would still tell me this so called Funny story Rae!" He replied, cheekily. Craig appricated that they could both just act normally around each other after everything that had been said, it just made things less complicated.

Rachel had to give Craig props for his comment, because even though she hated to admit it, he was right. She probably would have told him no matter what, "Ya, good point. But its not bad...Don't worry," She said with a laugh, "I was just gonna say that I was kinda nervous about tonight. Thats all." With a shrug, she filled her cheeks with air, then let it out through a small opening in her lips.

Craig grinned and just smiled at her when she told him. "Wanna hear something funny?" He didn't even wait for her reply, he would have told her anyway. "So was I..." Then their food arrived infront of them. It was his mother and she stayed a while. Checking up on rachel in a motherly way.
"rachel, hunny lovely to see you again! Oh it's been so long...how's schoool....glad your ok... Oh god must get back to work!.... Hae fun now!" Craig loved his mother, but at time she found her downright embarrising. But then again, all parents were like that! He started eating, in small bites. Craig wasn't a big eater, which was proberly obvious by looking at him.

(haha funni thing is...that sounds JUST like my mom lmao)
Almost as soon as their dinner had come, Craig had told Rachel that he had been nervous as well. Although she already probably knew what he could have been nervous about, she couldn't help but wonder if it was just the fact that he was going to spill all.
But before she could ask if he was being honest, Karen showed up to ask how she was. Rachel answered every interrogation question, with yes's and no's followed by nods and shakes of the head. Once she had left, Rachel turned to face Craig again with a smile on her face.
"I absolutly adore you mom Craig," She said brightly, as the woman went back to her post behind the counter. Taking a fry up off the plate with her fingers, Rachel took a bit and savored the flavor of the food. Karen's fingers and fries were the best thing on this planet and no one could disagree.

(Mine too... they must all be programmed like that :S ) Craig didn't really know what Rae could have been nervous about. It was just dinner to her after all, a friendly dinner. But then again, theor could be some feeling's beneathe that. But Craig wasn't gonna go questioning her and ruin the night. "Ha, sorry about that. My mum's just ...well embarrising!" He grinned and took aniother bit of his drink befre taking another mouthful. "So, you got any plans on Colleges and stuff yet Rach?" It seemed that Graduation was forever gaining ground on them and Craig was well, nervous. Crystal fall's was his home, he didn't want to leave the place he felt safe in.
