For what seemed like only a mere five minutes, was actually four hours that Rachel had to get ready for Craig and hers 'old times sake' dinner. Nothing special really, just two friends, eating dinner, at the same location that they had their first date...Yeah...Nothing special. Or at least thats what Rachel wanted to think. Lately it didn't seem as though things were different between Craig and her. Sure they were spending alot more time together catching up and just hanging out, but they were still the same friends they used to be 3 years ago when they first met. Only difference was, they had history. After parting ways with Craig at the school, Rachel had quickly headed home to get ready for the night. She wanted to look her best, not only for dinner but because to her this was a special occassion. It wasn't everyday that her and Craig had dinner together, let alone, without other friends of theirs there, so she wanted to look like she was at least looking forward to the night. Without worrying about anything else, she'd booked it up to her room and into her closet to find something. In the end she had chosen a white dress, not too overly fancy, but suitable for the night ahead. All she had to do was freshen up, put on a light layer of makeup, then head downstairs and wait for Craig to arrive. After having showered, gotten dressed, fixed her hair and make up, Rachel headed downstairs in order to wait for the man himself. It wasn't long before Rachel heard a knock at the door, and of course made her way out of the kitchen to answer it. "Long time no see stranger!" She joked as Craig's face appeared in her line of sight.

So, it seemed the end of an era had come for the couple that had began during their sophmore year. It was a strange thing really, seeing as Craig was a basketballer and Haley was a tuor girl. Who would have ever thought the two would have lasted for so long? Two years was alot in Highschool terms! But it seemed after hisc hat with rachel, Haley had just showed up and he'd managed to get it out.... however it hadn't exactly ended on such good terms.
Shortly, after their confrontation, Craig had dragged him self away to get ready for his dinner with Rachel Stone. After taking a quick shower, he'd changed into a pair of black trousers and navy blue button-up shirt. With freshly polished black shoes encasing his feet. For once, he'd actually dragged a comb through his dirty blonde hair but had just left it unstyled.
Then he had left, his house- Located aboe the Cafe and had driven to rach's house to pick her up. Craig rapped on the door lightly and smiled at Rachel as she opened the door. The girl looked stunning, but then she always did. He laughed lightly at her comment, it had only been a few hours since the two had last seen each other. But boy, had a lot happened.
"So you ready Miss.Stone? Your chariot awaits!" He smiled at her warmly, his car was no chariot at all. A second hand cheap car was all he could afford, but he didn't mind. It was a car atleast right..?

"You bet I am," Rachel replied enthusiastically, to Craig's question, as she grabbed her bag off the chair next to the door. Rachel had thought before that maybe her outfit for the night was a little too much, but seeing Craig in a pair of black trousers and a somewhat fancy blue button up top, she haden't regretted her choice in dress what so ever. Dressing in anything less would have made her look like this was some ordinary everyday outting. Giving him a bright smile before letting him out first so she could lock the doors to the house. She did just that, then turned on her heel to take a glipse of her so called 'chariot.' "Um...Not to shabby ..." Rachel said with a laugh, as she took in the sight of his all to familiar car. Turning her head to look at Craig she nodded her head at him as well, "Not to shabby looking yourself Craig." With that, she headed down the stone pathway to Craig's car. (blah i dunno what to post )

Craig wasn't one to really dress up, he stuck to his tracksuit bottoms or Jeans. It was a wonder, craig had even polished his shoes either, but then again the last time Craig had worn the shoes was on his birthday in August. they were severely in need of cleaning anyway.
He pretended to wipe his shirt grinning at her. "Ahh, what can i say. Special occasions cause for special plans to be taken!" He winked at her playfully, then got into the drivers seat once she was in the car. Starting up the engine, Craig thought he'd best tell her now so he could get it out of the way.
"Uh Rae, Haley and I... we split up earlier on. After I left you at school, she popped up and I managed it." He sighed, easing out of the street keeping his eyes firmly locked on the road. "But it didn't go so well... I asked her if we could stay friends and she just.... left." Glancing at her, the light from his eyes seemed to disappear and his face seemed to dull slightly. He wasn't proud of what had happened and wished he'd said soemthing different.

"Special occassion eh?" Rachel questioned as she seated herself into the passenger side, and pulled her seatbelt over her waist to clip in. It was true she had considered this a special occassion as well, but she had her reasons. She wondered what Craig's reason for thinking this was.
What came next was something Rae hoped she wouldn't have had to go over with him. At least not tonight. Talking about his apparent break-up with Haley was the last thing on her mind since the last time they met, but now it was gonna be the first. Her smile slowely turned to a frown as she looked at Craig, "She just left?" Was all she could ask. She guessed that sounded like the Haley she knew, but she thought Haley would at least have had some sense to give him something to go off of. "I...I'm sorry to hear that Craig," she added trying to sound as comforting as possible.

"Special occasion indeed." So he didn't actually know wether or not if he'd have the guts to confess his feeling's to her. Craig wanted to, but it was a question of timing. Was it too soon after Haley, but could he hide his feeling's any longer?
Craig didn't know why he was talking through his break up with her now, maybe it was so he had the rest of the night to just talk about anything with her? Or maybe it was because he just wanetd some guidance from her. "She just left and she was in tears. I really dunno what to say to her anymore, we were never really friends before we started dating!" Craig was surprised Rachel didn't know already. He would have thought Haley had rang her or something, obviously not... "Yea, me too. But I can't help the way I feel I guess."

There was a difference between Rachel and Haley. Haley was catious, but not as catious as Rachel. The senior liked to get to know a person, earn that level of trust before moving to the next level in a relationship. Haley on the other hand, didn't seem to take that step with Craig. Their trust had grown as they dated. This being a factor in the way they treated eachother after their breakup. "You were friends while you dated Craig. Am I not correct? You had a strong friendship, but it was a friendship none the less. I could see how there would be a difference now, but I think you guys could be friends. It will just take some time thats all." Rachel gave him a reassuring smile, trying to ease the mood, and shrugged as they drove on.
The lights of the town came into view and as they did, Rachel got more excited for the night ahead with each passing minute. It wasn't just the fact that this was a special occassion or nothing, it also had to do with the fact that perhaps for once they'd be able to talk about something other than Craig's relationship with Haley. After all, he was getting most of it out right there in the car. Hearing his next comment, Rachel nodded in agreement, "No one can ever help the way they feel. It just kinda...Happens."

"Correct." She had a point to be quite fair, Haley and Craig were friends whilst they dated otherwise their would be no point to their relationship. They'd grown stronger with each other and Craig really didn't want to loose that. "Thank-you Rachel."
Pulling into the carpark of his home and the cafe, he switched the ignition off. "You ready Miss.Stone?" Climbing out of the car, he took a deep breath and then walked towards the entrance, holding the door open for Rachel to enter before him.

"Anytime Craig," Rachel said with a true smile this time as she exited through the passenger side door and made her way across the parking lot to the cafe. Nodding a thanks to Craig as he held the door open for her to enter, Rachel let her flats pat against the flooring inside, as the scene rang as all to familiar in her mind. The small stage, the tables, the kitchen, everything in this place had become home to her, so it was all the more welcoming to be here with the same guy who called this place home, daily.
Switching her gaze to their regular table, Rachel smirked, memories of the past coming to mind only for a moment before she moved her feet to take a seat.

Craig returned the smile with his own toothy grin, then followed her into the cafe. It had been revamped slightly during the summer, Craig had described it as more 'cafeish' to Beth earlier that week, not really very descriptive but hey?
The pair sat down at 'their' table, he smiled at her warmly. "Uh Rachel..." So he was going to go through it after all. "Hypethetically speaking, if i told you the feelings I used to have for yuo were resurfacing would you leave the cafe right this instant?" He played it cool, but inside his heart was beating a hundred times faster than usual.

Only moments after taking a seat in 'her' chair, Rae heard Craig speak immediatly to her. Well at least conversation rarely stopped between the two. When ever they were together they always had something to talk about. Whether it be the past, present or future there seemed nothing they haden't talked about. Until this at least.
Acting natural, Rachel pursed her lips and shrugged, "Well hypothetically speaking Craig..." She gave a small grin, "Probably not...After all, it would be a waste of a night to do that seeing as we just sat down." Was he trying to get at something? Is what Rachel wanted to know, but rather than working herself up over it, she stayed cool, calm and collected.

Craig couldn't pry his eyes away from her, the dimples that appeared in her cheeks when she smiled... the way her eyes caught the light. Everything about her, he was falling for her...hard. "Well, what if I were to say, I wasn't speaking Hypothetically?" He replied, rasing an eyebrow slightly.
He drew in a breathe and finally dropped his gaze to the menu infrotn of him, pretending to read it. Even though he knew the thing off by heart, god he had helped make it. Craig didn't look up, instead he looked to the side and watched his mother talking to a few off her customers.

I'd have to hope that I wasn't the reason you broke up with Haley... was the immediate thought that came to Rachel's mind, as she tried to keep her posture and enthusiastic facial features. Turning her own gaze down to the menu in front of her, Rachel replied, "Well...Umm...In most cases I might smile or...Something..." She said giving a questioning look to herself as if asking herself 'that was the best you could come up with?', "But first i'd have to know if your speaking hypothetically or not?" Her eyes lifted from the menu to look across the table at Craig for an instant as she waited for what he would say.

Craig swallowewd hard and looked up at her. "Im not speaking Hypothetically. I like you again Rach... Like, like." Craig tried to read her, but he couldn't. She was one of those girls who at times were easy to read but at others held their own brilliantly. This was one of those times.

"There'd always be that little something there." Rachel had heard that line so many times before, but she just couldn't put her finger on it as too who had recently said it. Oh wait...She had said it. But not to Craig. Of course, he obviously felt the same way. When she had told herself that, she never thought that Craig would feel the same, after all, they had both agreed on being 'just friends.' But why? That was the question now.
Lifting her head completely, as she closed the menu, Rachel was at a loss for words, but kept her cool all the same. Its not like she would freak out at him. There was nothing to freak out at him for. This was certainly a special occassion.
"Your not speaking hypothetically," She repeated, more to herself than anyone, "Ok? Ok...I don't know what to say Craig," She told him honestly as a smile and frown seemed to mix with eachother. If you asked Rachel how she felt about Craig, and she was to answer honestly, her answer would be something along the lines of "I've been waiting for another chance. And all this time hes the one thats been holding me back from being with someone else." But she couldnt tell him that now. Not until she knew that she wasnt the reason him and Haley broke up. If that was even the truth.
