So meeting at the marina had sounded like a....fun plan for the day, well at least to most people it would have. But for Rachel and Haley, the two had found themselves entering and exiting the marina gates in less than fifteen minutes time. A record you could say.
What did you do when you had been splashed with a wave of water from the dolphin tank though? Why you headed to Karen's cafe for that tasty hot cup of coffee of course. Home to some of Crystal Falls most delictable pastries, sweetest coffee's and kindest visitors, Karen's Cafe had not only become aquainted to students as a great hang out but a great place to go when you needed a home. Craig's mom, Karen was almost always there serving up her signiture treats and beverages, so the place felt like more of a home than anywhere else to the two girls. After all, they had both been or were involved with Craig.
Having left the marina wet and cold, stepping into the small cafe came as somewhat of a relief. The heat from kitchen had radiated immediatly onto Rachel's bare skin giving her goosebumps as the scents of fresh muffins wafted through the air to their small noses.
Letting go of Haley's arm, Rachel gave a wave to Karen having not seen Craig and took a seat in their usual corner meeting place near a window letting in the perfect amount of sunlight.
"So what'll it be Hales?" Rachel was quick to ask as she rubbed her hands together and took a brief look at the menu.

Karen's was like Haley's second home, since she had been sating Craig she had got a job there and had grown extremely close to Craigs mom Karen. Even when she wasnt working she would often be hanging out there with one of her friends and today was no exception.
Following Rachel into the cafe Haley felt the instantg warmth that radiated from the room. The strong aroma of coffee and pastries wafted through her nostrels, she waved at Karen and followed Rachel over to the corner seat; their familiar spot.
Haley didnt need the menu she knew exactly what she wanted, the same thing everytime. "One caramel Latte" she replied to Rachel's question, "what about you Rae?" she asked as she relaxed back in her seat.

"Vanilla bean latte for me!" Came Rachel's answer as she put the small menu back onto the corner of the table. She had chosen her usual, and rarely bothered to pick up the menu in the first place, but there was always that choice to expand her horizons.
Turning her attention to the front counter, it was as if one of the waitressess had been waiting for them to choose what they wanted, or waiting for the go ahead to make up the usual. So as Rachel connected eyes with the waitresses looking in their direction, she held up two fingers, as if too say, 'two of the usual.'
After she had done this, she looked towards her friend with a smile on her face, "So....Hows things in the life of Haley Lovell?" She asked of the girl in front of her, as she had her, earlier.

Haley put on her best fake smile and made eye contact with Rachel, "Everythings fine, not much going on really" Haley had lied to Rachel she had been worrying about Craig lately more importantly Craig and Beth then there was Jeremy and the chemistry between Haley and him. She didnt know what was going on inside her head or her heart right now and she wasnt sure she was ready to talk to Rachel about it, so far she had only opened up to Ethan but then he was practically her brother and there was nothing she didnt tell him.

Maybe it was just Rachel, or maybe Haley was really hiding something from her. She couldn't blame her in the least for not spilling the truth, but then again, Rachel thought they had that level of trust. "Alright...Fair enough," the senior said with a slight laugh. Rachel almost always caught Haley in high spirits, so seeing her hold back was something new to her, "Um....Hows senior year so far?" She decided to ask, almost hesitant to continue questioning her friend.
(lol i dont know what to post!)

(its cool im the same lol)
Haley smiled again then looked down at the table before regaining eye contact with Rachel, "umm yeah busy lots of tutoring to do there are a lot of students flagging behin" she laughed as she said that she knew she must come across as one of those goody goody swotty students but her education was important to Haley so she didnt care what people thought and besides she enjoyed studying as crazy as that sounded. "how about you any new things going on in your life?"

"Its senior year, what do you expect Hales," Rachel replied with a laugh, "Were supposed to go out with a bang not bust our butts studying 24/7!" In all reality, Rachel couldn't wait to graduate. She had the grades she needed, she'd already applied to a few colleges, so with that covered, the only she had left to do was make her entrance. Do that one thing that she'd be remembered for. Only thing was, she needed that one thing!
Scratching the side of her head before replying to her question about anything new in her life, Rachel had to be careful what she said. She'd been hanging out with Craig alot more regularily, but that didn't mean anything in her eyes. She just didn't want Haley to get the wrong impression. "Oh you know...living life to the fullest?" She pulled a face as she crossed one leg over the other, looking from her friend to the passers by outside the cafe window.

Haley propped her head up on her hand as she rested her elbow on the table, "yeah part of me cannot wait for college so I can get away from Crystal Falls..." she knew that would probably be a shock seeing as Haley was a complete home bird and had grown up in CF all her life and it was as if Haley wanted to escape something...or someone.

Rachel had to pinch herself before giving Haley that questioning look that followed her desire to leave Crystal Falls. Of course, Rachel had told Essie the same thing about herself. How CF only had so much to offer Rach and that there were better things outside the lines of the relationships and things she loved in town. Having lived here all her life, she needed a change, a break from everything. She figured that was Haley's reason too.
"You'll miss it wont you?" Rachel asked seriously, the scene outside now just clicking into her mind. Before the streets and shops outside the cafe had just been something to look at, but now that the conversation had taken a turn, they were more of a memory. When she left, she'd miss seeing the people, window shopping with friends, emptying her credit cards with Haley, and well, sitting right here in the cafe.
It had become like a home to her. Sure her and Karen had never been really close, but Rachel considered her like a second mom. Someone to come to when she needed advice. Not to mention that the cafe was where she had her first date with Craig, came here for 'old times sake' with him. She'd miss it and as much as she hated to admit it, it tore her up inside to think that she couldnt stay in Crystal Falls forever and a day.

Haley listened as Rachel asked her that question and she wondered deep inside if she would miss it, surely she would miss the people but would she miss the place. She would miss it she knew she would but right now this place was shrouded in trouble and confusion.
"Yeah I guess I will miss it...I just...I dunno..." she stopped herself unsure of what she even thought anymore. She just wanted everything back to how it was in her sophmore year when her and Craig were happy and she had no reason for her to worry and feel alone.
Haley looked up as a waitress appeared with their drinks, Haley had been so busy thinking and talking that she had forgotten about their drinks. She took her latte and took a small sip before looking back at Rachel, she smiled and let out a small laugh, "When did life get so confusing..remember when our biggest worry was what party to go to and where to burn our dads credit cards" she laughed.

Although she hated the idea of leaving Crystal Falls, Rachel loved the fact that the two could still joke about it. Leaving High School and Crystal Falls in the same year would be harder than ever for Rachel, but as long as she could still hang out with her friends in the time being, have a few laughs, and perhaps a few drinks, everything was perfect.
Wtih a laugh, Rachel nodded her head in agreement, "Oh ya! After our little 'spree' a few years back, I think my dads got a safe hidden in the floor somewhere," Shaking her head now, memories of the past drifted back into her head, "I dunno about you, but Im gonna miss Crystal Falls. Even if its all drama all the time. Its home to me and always will be. Nothing'll change that..." She shrugged.

"yeah..." Haley felt tears building in her eyes Rachel was right Crystal Falls was there home and always would be and now that Haley thought about it she felt scared of everything changing. Her and Craig were growing further apart as it was and soon they would be graduating and then Haley would feel further from him and her friends. A few small tears fell down her cheek and she wiped them away before laughing, "god look at me crying yet again" she laughed

(awww lol)
Rachel had always been a sap for this kind of thing and it was hard enough letting friends go but when Haley started crying it was harder for Rachel not to follow. Removing her eyes from her friend and down the latte in front of her, Rachel spun it around on the table before lifting her head and chuckling, "Hales don't cry!...You'll make me cry..." She said as tears welled in her eyes. There was nothing to cry about really, but if she was crying on a normal outting, then she couldn't imagine herself on graduation day.

"Sorry..." Haley replied gently "I guess this is harder than I thought and...." she decided to tell Rachel about her troubles with Craig "I think Craig wants to break up..." she looked down into her coffee and began to pour in some sugar her mind was elsewhere and she continued to pour copious amounts into her coffee without realising.

"Whoa whoa whoa!" Rachel stopped, then grabbed Haley's hand forcing her to put the sugar back on the table, "How bout you explain before givin yourself a sugar coma?" She raised an eyebrow at the once again, sudden change in topic. They just seemed to be hoping from one thing to another and sooner or later Rachel would have to catch up. Putting the sugar back into its place, she looked at her friend after taking a sip of her own latte, "So? How bout it?"
