Essie had just arrived there after the e-mails that had gone back and forth between the two of them, and she could feel her stomach turning in a bad way at that moment. Who did Craig like? What would he do after he knew that truth about her feelings? Those were the type of questions that was running through her head as she sat herself down at a table and waited for Craig.
She had the feeling about what she was doing was the right think, but what would Craig think about her? All she hoped was that they were able to stay friends even when he knew, because she needed him there, being her date or not. There she was nothing without Craig, and that wouldn't change anytime soon either.

Craig stripped his apron and name tag off and hung it up on the wall. Then washed his hands, he stil smelled like coffe but he didn't mind. He went out front and sat at the table with Essie. He was slightly confused at to what was going on with her, did she like someone. Maybe she wanted to hook him up with one of his friends.
"Hey Ess, my mum said we can go upstairs if we want. She knows you well enough that you won't trash the place!" He grinned at her and shuffled his chair in, then rested his elbows on the tabble. "So, whats up?"

Essie smiled faintly when she saw the arrival of Craig and she felt her heart start to beat fast than it had when she had arrived there not very long ago. She was thinking about what to say, and she sighed a little bit not sure how to go on with it. Maybe he would end up hating her for it or something although she knew that was probably being over dramatic.
"Yeah, Craig, well, our freshman year when you were single I was really happy then, and I know this doesn't sound right, but I felt as if I had you to myself. It's not that I'm jealous of Haley or this girl that you like it's just..." She trailed off not sure how to say it or even if she should say it at all.

Craig raised one eyebrow at her, wondering where this was leading too. Did she like him or something? Ok, this was some deep crap that needed drinks. he took a breath, "Ok what do you want to drik/ i know this could take a while and is gonna be pretty drama orientated!" He smiled at her all the same, Essie was his best friend and nothing was gonna change that.

Essie smiled and nodded thinking that having something to drink would be a good thing. She felt that she needed it too, but after all this was over she could be herself again, the girl that Craig knew as Essie. "Yeah sounds, good and I know this is deep stuff, but you know me we're going to be deep for about fifteen minutes and then we'll be joking around again." At this she smiled at him knowing that he would always try to be there no matter what happened.

Nodding, he stood up out of hsi chair and smiled at her. "true, because we wouldn't be the kids we are now would we?" He winked at her then went rund the opposite side of the counter to whip them up two coffe's. Craig had inherited his mother's nack of making some damn good coffe.
He returned with a tray, 2 mugs of coffe, small jug of milk and a pot of sugar and spoon. Maybe he'd need a little more sugar today depending on Essie's sudden need for a heart to heart. he rested the tray on the table and sat back down again. Tipping a spoon full of sugar into his coffe, then a little bit of milk and stirring he glanced up at her. "Essie, whatever you tell me won't change how I think of you, ok?"

Essie nodded and smiled at him, and decided to just tell him about it right now since she knew that there was no point in hiding things away from him now. "Yeah, I like you more than a friend Craig, I mean you have always been there for me and everything, and I guess that made me grow a liking to you." She knew that once this conversation was over with she could go back to life, and push on with being single for awhile longer.
"So yeah, who's the girl you like?" She said in a cheerful mood as if she hadn't just admitted how she felt about Craig a couple of seconds ago. This meant that she would have to find a way to do something about this now. There was no turning back now.

Craig brought his mug to his lips, bit placed it back onto the table as he heard her confession. Yea, it was quite a big thing to be hearing from your best friend of 4 years. He picked up the spoon, and placed another spoonful of sugar into his tea. then took a sip. What was he supposed to say to that? He smiled at her asnd nodded, he wouldn't do anything. Just be the same old Craig to her, that would be easiest.
"Uhh, you swear on your life not to tell anyone. Especially not Haley? We're already going through another crap as it is!" He put out his little finger to her, issuing a pinky promise. A tradition withheld for decades. "It's Elizabeth James, the girl in my math class."

Essie smiled a little bit as he didn't answer knowing that he was probably just trying to not make everything any different from before she had said anything to her about it. She put her own tea to her lips and looked around the empty cafe for a little bit before looking back at him to hear the next thing that he had to say.
"I swear I will take it to my grave." She said taking the pinky promise that they always did when share secrets or other such things. "Oh, she's an alright girl, I don't have anything against her really." After that she shrugged a little bit, and took another sip of her tea.

Then he thought back to his moments with rae and couldn't help but let an echoe of a smile creep onto his lips. then it clicked, all suddenly and strangely he guessed Essie had some how helped him.
"I know this may sound really weird Essie, in the space of about a minute I've totally changed my mind. Don't think me a jackass or anything but it isn't Beth im into. I guess I just had mixed feelings, I think I might like Rachel again..."

Essie looked at Craig and sighed a little bit and she felt a little bit of jealously that couldn't be helped since Craig never really liked her as more than a friend ever in their whole time of friendship. She had a feeling though that Rachel would probably be taken by Luke after Danielle like always broke up with the guy soon.
"Yeah and I know Rachel is probably interested in another guy since I talked to the guy a little bit about what was going on and all of that. He's a nice guy and I am sure that Rachel would enjoy it a lot if she got with him." She was being honest about it, but she knew that partly why she said this was out of jealousy. "Craig, I don't know but the truth is a feel a little jealous of all those girls that get you crushing on them."

Craig felt slightly jerkish, pouring out his feelings about who he was crushing on to Essie when she'd just revealed so much to him. He placed a hand on her's and looked her in the eyes. "Look, Essie. im sorry and I know this must be hard for you. Hell it's hard for me too but Im sure, you'll find that guy one day. Hey itt could be me in 5... 10 years time. people who are meant to be together always find their way. We're only Seniors in Highschool and at the moment your my bestfriend. I guess I never thought of you any more than that!"
then he sat back in his seat and smiled weakily at her. he was lost and confused, his love life was all over the place at the moment and he really didn't know who to turn too for advice. Haley was out of the question for obvious reasons, Essie liked him and Craig felt bad talking to her about it, Beth wasn't really his friend and Rae... Well he couldn't tell her he liked her, could he?

Essie nodded and understood that but it was still really hard for her and after being stabbed in the back three times in the back by three guys in a row where she used to live it was hard to find that she trusted a guy enough to like them. She might do some flirting, but when it came right down to the truth there were not very many people she truly trusted and she felt her jealousy fade. "I trust you Craig and no matter if we're just best friends or more than that I will probably always trust you."
The truth was that she trusted Craig with her life, and she knew that her feelings would change over time, but she was fine with it. "I'm sorry I seem to be so touchy about all of it, but I have been having to deal with a lot you could say and it doesn't help. I'm still around." That was all that she could think of to say to him now.

Craig smiled at her, she was an amazing friend and that was no lie at all. After all the stupid stunts he'd pulled she'd always forgiven him. - Even if he'd been a complete jackass to her. You didn't come across friends like that very often, thats why Caig was so greatful to her. Greatful she hadn't judgedhim as some stupid jock. But as a normal guy and that's proberly what made them such good friends.
"Thank you Essie Anderson, I would jump in front of a bullet for you If I had to and I hope you know that. I trust you with anything too, well you proberly already guessed that but still? But no matter what, how you feel or anything. No matter what happenes, I'll always be their for you."

Essie was so great full for Craig always being there for her, and the least that she could do for him was be there for him as well. It wasn't like a thing that happened very single day, and she tried to keep Craig there since she needed him there even though their jokes seemed pointless. To her they were a way to breath, and a way that she could just be herself instead of someone else.
"Craig Scott I trust you just as much if not more that that, and you should know that your own kind actions gave you this friend that is sitting in front of you." She said that honestly and she wanted him to know that he had done something right by helping her on the first day of school and all of that. Shrugging a little bit she attempted to lighten the mood. "So how are things going with basketball?"
