Essie was just in this weird mood and didn't really want to head home at the moment even though she had probably brunt about two hours talking to a person she knew from music class. Here she was now though just relaxing and thinking about things you could say. If you noticed at all that her notebook was out, and writting you could tell that some deep thoughts were being processed on to the pieces of paper that she was writing on. It was a sercet debate showing currently in her thoughts and that was what was being written about.
Of course she kept the names of the people anamous since she didn't want people to know either of the people that were involded names. It was for the better or at least that was what she thought about it. Maybe hiding her feelings wasn't the best idea considering what almost happened in Kansas, because of it. Craig was the only one who knew about all of the stuff that happened, and to everyone else she just said that it had been horrible and that was it.
The reason that her family moved was to get her away from all of it since they could tell that she was going to snap, and that was why they moved far away from there. It was a way of making sure that none of her fellow students would be there to make her memory of the pain come back. Craig had secretly safed her from herself, and she cared for him deeply for that. Hints why she had such a hard time with confusion at that moment.

Craig had been at the rivercourt for an hour or so, he'd stopped off back home first though. He'd dropped his things in and changed into a blue shirt and black shorts and put his basketball under his arm and his mp3 in his pocket. So his first day of Senior year was over and well, it hadn't been all that special. Maybe he'd hoped for something exciting to happen... but then again nothing ever happened in Crystal Falls.
He dribbled to the rivercourt, with his music playing in his ears. Music was something that meant a lot to Craig, I was hard to explain he just lost himself when he was listening to it. He couldn't sing and he wasn't a song writer or anything, he just like to listen and absorb the true meanings of the song.
Upon arrival, Craig was surprised to find the court empty. Usually, one or two of is friends would be their, but it seemed today they had better things to do. This didn't fase him though, he dribbled, practiced his lay up's, his free throws and all of that stuff.
An hour later he was still at it, the sun had started to hide behind charcol clouds and the street lamps flickered to life. The cool night air, cooled him down and he didn't even realise the familiar figure on the other side of the court. She'd been their for somewhile, but Craig was to absorbed in getting this move right to notice...

Essie chucked a little bit watching the sport absorbed player doing layups and other such things and if it wasn't for the fact that her heart was having diffeculties she would probably have been doing it with him. She then looked back down at her notebook and kept writing her emotions and feelings down on the paper bit by bit. Of course this was a habit that had been formed over her freshman year, and you barely caught her without her notebook.
As boring as Crystal Falls may be she enjoyed the peace and quiet affect that the whole place had on her. She decided to take a little bit of action instead of just sitting there, and started to get up from her place and head over to where the fimlair figure was too busy with layups to notice her at that moment.
It was none other than Craig Scott; the person that she had been thinking about all day long, and it that wasn't enough of a surprise she was there too, and not playing ball. This was the first year she wasn't and no doubt would Craig notice the change in what she did.
"Hey Craig." She said waiting for an answer from him in some shape or form. He would of course reply in one way or another, but the way he would she wasn't as sure of. The first question that she could see him asking was why wasn't she playing.

He dribbled to the free throw line. "Line your foot up Craigy boy, focus...focus. Bounce...Bounce. Bend your knees and...push."He bent his knees low then sprang through them and released the ball, freezing his wrist at the end. The ball went through the net. So it should have, he'd been practicing for hours, well atleast it felt that way.
He bounced the ball, then held it in hi hands when he heard his name from far away. Reaching in his pocket, he switched off his MP3 and pulled the headphones from his ears. He smiled at the girl before him. "Essie, you up for a little one on one?" He was surprised she wasn't already playing, he looked over to the ground and saw her notebook amongst otherthings. From werehe was stood, it looked as though she was writing again. She'd obviously been their for a while and he hadn't even noticed.

Essie smiled a weak smile at him and shook her head knowing that she was in to give him some bad news about the whole playing thing. "The doctors aren't allowing me to play anymore. I'm sorry C." She shook her head a little bit, and she knew that he was the one that had any idea why they weren't letting her in the first place, but she guessed that was alright.
"So anyways how are you at this moment?" They had talked to each other right before they had left the school, but that didn't matter since she always asked or he asked how the other was doing, and then the other replied with how they were. It was just normal, but her not playing basketball anymore certainlly wouldn't be.

Craig watched her expresiion sink as she told him the bad news He was touched that he was the only one to know about her condition, but it was always kinda hard. He had to remember to keep it out of conversations when other people were around and he couldn't help but keep an eye on her to make sure she was ok all the time. He dropped the ball and pulled her into a hug. He rested his chin on the tip of her head and whispered, "Im so sorry Essie, but your gonna be ok... you know that?" Then he broke away and smiled sympathetically at her.
"Im good, just getting some extra practice in before the big game you know. Your gonna be their supporting us right?" He grinned at her. "So you wanna go do something?" He couldn't enjoy carrying on playing knowing Essie could only sit and watch the game she loved to play. If it ever happened to him, he knew it would feel like loosing apart of his soul.

Essie smiled at him giving him an encouraging smile knowing that he was the one that knew almost everything about her, and it couldn't be helped but for her to try hard whenever she was around Craig. It was hard, and there were a lot of things that he knew about that no one else did, because at the time he had been the only person that she had been able to trust for a whole year. "I'll be alright, you know I'm a strong suriver from my history." She knew that was something that she would never lie to Craig about ever.
"I'll be there rooting for you like very year, and the coach for the girl's team said if the doctors figure out something to give me to let me be able to play again there's a spot for me on the team." She returned his grin knowing that she always would try to find a way to play if it was possible. "Sure, anything at all, you name it, I'm in." She wasn't too picky about what they did as long as they had some fun it was always ok with her.

He nodded, knowing that Essie would get through this. And if he was needed along the way, he'd be their for her. They were best friends and that's what best friends did for ne another. "I know you'll be strong, your the strongest person I knoe Essie."
He smiled one of those far away, dreamy smiles, then came hammering back down to Earth. "Thank-you. Your like my lucky charm for Basketball, don't know what i'd do without you!" he grinned and shrugged at her reply. "Well, what do you feel like doing buddie?"

She smiled at him, and she felt that Craig himself was stronger than her, but she didn't say anything on it really. She always tried to be there for him no matter what it was so naturally she would be there cheering her friend on for the big basketball game.
"Well, we could listen to music and just hang out, or we could watch a couple of movies, or we could just wonder around town. It's your choice from there." She always gave him some different things to pick from before they actually did something, and it was fun, because usually no matter what it was they ended up messing around.

He twitched one eyebrow, too many choices really. Then his face formed into a smile, "how about you tell me how your first couple of days have a Senior have been going?" He linked his arm through her's and walked over to the benches at the far end of the court.
Sitting down, Craig placed his ball at his feet and patted the seat next to him. "Soo, you go first Miss. Anderson!"

She laughed a little bit at Craig's reaction to the many choices that she had given to him right on the spot, but she should have been used to that by now. Another arm linking got her thoughts racing once again, but she tried to put the thoughts away, and she didn't show the confusion on her face.
After they sat down she looked over at Craig and gave him a smile. and was glad that it didn't show the nervousness that she felt inside of her at that moment. "It's going good, made a couple more friends, and all of that normal junk. Nothing too exciting, what about you?" This question was of course a typical question, but why did she feel a lump in her throat after answering the question, and flat out lying about the feelings inside of her?

Post by Rachel Stone on Dec 31, 2006 18:44:29 GMT
Just like alot of other days during the week, Rachel had found herself walking aimlessly through Crystal Falls. Having lived in the same town all her life, meant she knew where almost everything was, every short cut, every path, every crack in the pavement, all the people, but as her feet touched the pavement of the river courts and her eyes fell upon two figures in the distance, Rachel only knew three things. That twenty feet further onto the river courts sat two people she knew all two well. Her ex boyfriend and closest friend, Craig Scott and another of her good friends, Essie Anderson.
A small smile formed on her lips at the sight, as she slipped her hands into her pockets and walked forward, till she was only a mere 3 or so feet away, "Hey guys...Hope im not inturrupting anything?" The expression on her face was soft, and content, showing that she couldn't have been any happier that she had found two friends who hopefully wouldn't mind her presense.

He smiled nodding, "Yeap, first day of Senior year wasn't all that exciting for me either! Just the usual, copying your homework catching up with evertyone working out the easy teachers!" he laughed lightly waiting for her response. It was a good think Hales wasn't around really. Things weren't going all that good with Haley lately, but he wasn't gonna say anything just yet. He sorta had feeling's for Beth, but then she was into guys who weren't him so their was no reason for liking her. And Craig was pretty sure Jeremy liked Haley, whether she liked him back was a mystery though.
Craig hadn't noticed the blonde figure approaching the pair until she spoke, but knew instantly who it was. Smiling up at her he patted the bench beside him. "Ahh, if it isn't my favourite little Goldielocks!" He laughed lightly and put his arm around her shoulder in a sort of hug thing. "just chatting about out first few day's as Seniors really." he looked from Essie back to Rachel.
